Record-Setting 18 - 8 Victory for Dubai

Final Scores: Dubai 18 – 8 Clinova | Venue: Duke's Ground

Dubai Polo Team made an immediate impact on a commanding five-goal unanswered run from Camilo Castagnola and Rufino Bensadon. Finally halting Dubai Polo Team’s attacking blitz, back-to-back goals from Alfredo Bigatti and Jeronimo del Carril briefly kept Clinova within striking distance. However, the force of Castagnola resulted in a dominant seven-goal first half to earn Dubai an impressive 9-4 advantage.

Peppering the goal with 15 first-half shots, Dubai Polo continued to find success in open play with Rashid Albwardy and Beltran Laulhe joining in on the action. Attempting to find a rhythm for Clinova, Isidro Strada struck on three drives, but a total of 28 shots from the field and a 60% shooting percentage allowed Dubai Polo Team to easily win their second match of the tournament 18-8. This victory also ensured that Rashid Albwardy received the Royal Windsor Horse Show Cup, traditionally played as a league match on the opening weekend of the Cartier Queen’s Cup tournament.

PARK PLACE VS. MARQUES DE RISCAL

Final Scores: Park Place 11 – 10 Marques De Riscal | Venue: The Oaks

Kicking off Saturday’s doubleheader in the Cartier Queen’s Cup, Facundo Pieres struck early for Park Place at the penalty line, as Guillermo Caset answered from the field to keep Marques de Riscal within one. Taking advantage of Marques de Riscal’s foul troubles, Pieres went a perfect 4 for 4 on conversions to account for all of Park Place’s contributions in the first half for a narrow 4-3 lead.

Trading goals in the fourth chukka, Marques de Riscal’s Chris Mackenzie added his name to the scoreboard, followed by a four-goal effort from Caset to seize their first lead of the match 9-7. Despite an impressive eight-goal performance from Caset, a game-leading nine goals from Pieres, including two in the sixth, carried Park Place to this nail-biting 11-10 victory.
